Patterns


A judge can ask you as a handler to perform any of the following 'patterns' with your dog in the ring.

Triangle Circle The 'L' The 'T'

Triangle

  1. Line your dog up correctly to the judge before setting off
  2. Keep your lines straight
  3. Check the position of the judge BEFORE turning
  4. Keep your dog flowing around the corners
  5. Exercise correct lead control on the corners
  6. Line your dog up to the judge before returning
  7. Complete the pattern
  8. Finish by stacking the dog 3 TO 4 PACES FROM the judge, directly in front of him / her


Circle

Note there are two types of circular pattern


    Circle with the Judge in the centre
  1. Keep the dog always in the left hand moving in an anti-clockwise direction
  2. Keep your dog moving at the correct pace for it's breed
  3. Keep a space between you and the handler in front



    Circle with the Judge on the outside
  1. Keep your dog moving at the correct pace for it's breed
  2. Keep a space between you and the handler in front
  3. Lead changes hands at point 'A' - handler moving to the rear of the dog
  4. Lead changes hands at point 'B' - handler moving to the front of the dog



The 'L'

  1. Line your dog up correctly to the Judge before setting off
  2. Keep your lines straight
  3. Neat / Sharp corner then straight
  4. Check the position of the Judge BEFORE turning
  5. Line your dog up to the Judge before returning to the start position.
  6. Complete the pattern
  7. Finish by stacking the dog 3 TO 4 PACES FROM the Judge, directly in front of him / her.



The 'T'


  1. Line your dog up correctly to the Judge before setting off
  2. Keep your lines straight
  3. Neat / Sharp corner to your left, count your steps you take to point (1)
  4. Inward turn at (1) take double the steps, you just counted, in a straight line to (2)
  5. Inward turn at (2) count the steps originally counted to (1)
  6. Check the Judges position before turning back to the judge, half way between (1) and (2)
  7. Line your dog up to the Judges position
  8. Finish 3 TO 4 PACES FROM the judges feet
  9. THE 'T' IS A SYMETRICAL PATTERN
